1 Month...Already?!?!?!

So, its official...Frankie is 1 month old already! Crazy how time flies! He has changed and grown so much in the past month...

The Stats:
At his 1 month Dr visit he weighed in at a whopping 9lbs 4oz (almost 2lbs more than his birth weight) and 21.5 inches long (a whole inch growth!). He's right in the 50th percentile.

The 1 Month Dr visit:

Was great. Dr. Boyer LOVES him. She even proceeded to tell us how normally she likes the girl babies (other Dr's in the office like the boy babies...they are a biased office), but he is her all time favorite baby (yes she actually said that). We have to admit, he's our all time favorite baby too. Why wouldn't he be?!  He's doing great, still really gassy and uncomfortable, but at this point the Dr said there's not a lot we can do to help him with that aside from everything we have been (cutting out a lot from mom's diet so it doesn't upset his stomach, moving his legs when he gets uncomfortable to move it around, gas drops, gripe water, etc). Some days are just worse than others. He has a quick ultrasound appointment at 6 weeks just to make sure he didn't dislocate his hips while he was trying to come out with his feet around his ears (the kid kicks and moves all the time, we HIGHLY doubt he did) otherwise he doesn't have to go back to the Dr until his 2 month appointment where he will get his first shots...YIKES! I think its going to be more traumatic on mom and dad than him though.

Milestones:
He is VERY alert and aware of everything around him. He watches EVERYTHING. He can roll from side to side (Dr says he will roll to his tummy anytime now at the rate he is going). He also is starting to follow things we put in front of him. He's getting pretty good at holding up his head, especially for longer periods at a time. He's also JUST started drinking out of a bottle at bedtime (just to get used to it for when mom goes back to work) and the first time he ate about 3.5 oz (he ate about 2 hours before, so that's a lot) and figured out how to hold the bottle up on his own and feed himself. Yep, smart kid.

Frankie's favorite toy is his play gym that has a ton of stuff hanging from it. He figured out really quickly how to kick the rattle and chime toys and he likes looking at himself in the mirror that's on it...but his favorite thing about his play gym is the musical frog that you pull on to play music. He ALMOST has figured out how to get it to play on his own. He gets really upset when the music stops and will yell at us to make it play again. He will play for almost 30 minutes at a time a few times a day. Yeah, he REALLY loves that frog.

Another thing he loves is his baths. He loves the water, just like his Momma! He just gets so relaxed as soon as we put him in there. Here he is almost falling asleep while getting his bath because he's so comfy. He didn't want to move or turn back over. He's going to be a pruney kid at bath time I think!

He makes all sorts of cute noises, one of our favorites is his dolphin noises. Sounds like he's calling dolphins! He's a very loud sleeper and is constantly grunting and squeaking and laughing in his sleep. Now if only we could get that cute laugh when he's awake! Soon I think. He's almost smiling at things and laughing at them now. Hopefully by next month. Can't wait to get one of those adorable smiles (and not just because he's sleeping or has gas)

Frankie also has a friend...Her name is Maddy. She just happens to be my best friend's daughter who was born a week and a half after him (they were BOTH 2 weeks early). We got them together this week for the first time and he was such a gentleman and was so sweet to her (when they were both awake that is).

Sleep:
He's sleeping pretty well (aside from the random nights of sleeplessness that we are just going to chalk up to a growth spurt here and there). He sleeps for at least 4 hours at a stretch at night and goes back to sleep easily. Some nights (when he's especially gassy) he will sleep in the swing. He loves the swing. Calms him down pretty well.

Frankie has been doing great so far. We couldn't love him any more if we tried. He's spoiled by everyone, and that's OK by us for now.
