Well, life really is full of surprises. Didn’t think this would happen yet, but honestly, I can’t say I am disappointed. I am honestly absolutely thrilled. Actually, is it possible to be completely over the moon excited, and terrified at the same time? I think that explains how I am feeling a little better.
I found out I was pregnant a little over a week ago…which makes me almost 6 weeks along! We still haven’t told anyone until AFTER I go to my first Dr’s appointments. Plus I know there are risks of miscarriage early on, so I don’t want to go through telling people, then having to tell them im not later on. My body does have a total mind of its own, so F and I feel like we should just let it do its thing, and grow away before we start shouting from the rooftops (though, that is SOOOO tempting)!
I told F the night I found out I was pregnant…I managed to find a card for “The New Daddy” and put it in a bag with the positive pregnancy tests (yes, two of them…I just wanted to make sure it was right)(and they were sealed in a plastic baggie, cuz if they weren’t, that would just be gross). At first I pulled out a gift bag, and he had this puzzled look on his face. He asked me why I got him a gift and what it was for. I told him to just open it, so he looks in the bag and takes out the plastic baggie of pregnancy tests and first just looks at me confused. He then looks back at the tests and then back at me and then just says “BABE?!?!?!” in total shock and excitement. I will never forget the look on his face…EVER.
Now to wait, impatiently excitedly, for the Dr’s appointments before we tell everyone. We have decided to wait, since F and I both know many women who have had miscarriages, and found out after everyone was told, that they were no longer pregnant. I can’t imagine telling everyone, and everyone being excited, only to have to take that back. It’s just not fair to them, or us. Now if only the Dr’s office didn’t have stupid logical rules about waiting to go in. I have a pregnancy orientation class and then have to wait until I am 10 weeks before I can see a Dr….10 FRIGGIN WEEKS?!?!?! I am only 5 weeks along people! That’s another whole 5 weeks we gotta wait, and they won’t even be doing an ultrasound at 10 weeks. Just listening for a heartbeat and doing an exam. Seeing is believing people, because really, how do I know that sound you are hearing isn’t just my stomach growling because I forgot to eat breakfast? I do get along really well with my Dr, maybe I can talk her into an ultrasound. She’s pretty good about listening too me (plus with as screwed up I mean special actually SCREWED UP is right, my body is, she kinda needs to).
So join me on the waiting game….Supposed due date…. May 25th,2010! (sweet, that means I will probably get memorial day off this year…who cares if I am in labor. That’s what drugs are for, right?). And I am going to lay down some rules, before I get baby crazy.
1) I will not be doing this naturally by choice. They made the good drugs for a reason, and DAMMIT, I want them if at all possible.
2) I will try to watch my weight throughout the pregnancy (because I hate working out and don’t want to have to kill myself to TRY and lose some of the weight after), but if I happen to be eating a cheeseburger, pizza, ice cream, candy, or any other type of junk food…DO NOT STOP ME (and you better not comment on my eating habits). I know what I am doing, but sometimes, a girl’s just gotta have a burger.
3) I already asked about caffeine. I have to limit it, but not ELIMINATE it. Do not be the coffee police. Wanna see a super hormonal pregnant caffeine addict get stabby? Try me
4) Touch the belly and die…unless you ask nicely, on a good day, and I know you, the chances of me saying yes go up to about 10%.
5) I have heard about every horror story there is about birth between my mom and sister-in-law….I am already freaked out enough, I don’t need more.
6) Advice is always welcome, but I will probably never take it. Ask F, he is always giving me advice that I never follow, so don’t feel bad if I don’t follow yours.
That’s it for now, once the word gets out and I start hating the general population again, I will probably add more to this list. Keep in mind all rules are subject to change at a moments notice. So, wish me luck (hope that it’s a girl so that I don’t have to name the baby #3…Just kidding.....kinda ;) its a story to be saved for a later date)!
