First of all...Merry Christmas everyone! Ok, so this year, Christmas completely caught me off guard. besides being exhausted from being pregnant, I swear we got shorted a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas. So, I was supposed to post a 17 week belly picture, but I didn't...because I have been super busy the last week and didn't have time to take a picture. Yeah, I suck. Might not get one this week either.
We had our 18 week appointment on Monday, and we were able to hear Bean's heart beat. It was in the 140's-150's and sounded so good...I don't think there is actually a better sound though. It was my last appointment with my Dr until April, since she is going out on maternity leave. I do have to say how much I really like her and how happy I am that she will be back before Bean makes its big entrance! No ultrasound this visit, but our BIG ultrasound where we get to find out the sex is in a week and a half...and I am sooo impatient. Thank goodness there is so much going on in the week and a half until then.
This week my annual Christmas tradition of getting sick has lived on. Unfortunately. And unfortunately, it was worse this year than I can ever remember. That may be because I can't take any meds...I love this baby, and I know I have had it pretty easy, but not being able to take meds when you are sick to make you feel halfway human just seems wrong. So I got a nasty stomach bug on Wed, got sent home from work, and mom came and picked me up with all my stuff. I felt like I was back in school and mom was coming to pick me up sick. I ended up going to the Dr, so they could make sure Bean was ok...since I was SEVERELY dehydrated. After listening to Bean's heart rate (140's-150's) and making sure that was ok, she was nice enough to give me the option of going home and trying to keep liquids down instead of being put in a room and being hooked up to an IV. She gave me a 3hr window to be able to get fluids in my system, before I HAD to have the IV. Luckily I was able to start keeping things down around 2:30...but that was definitely not fun. Just for fun (since my own Dr didn't want to play along when F and I went to our Dr's appointment and take a guess at what Bean was), the midwife I saw decided to play and when my mom asked her if she were to GUESS boy or girl, she instantly said GIRL! Haha...I was soooo sure that Bean is a boy, but now, I might be wrong, and I am more than Ok with that!
Last night went to Grandma's house since she made home made Matzo Ball Soup....AKA Jewish penicillin. Tasted soooo good. Best thing I had eaten in days. And to top it off, my Grandpa (Aboo) and his neighbor went and got a truck load of snow somewhere and dropped a bunch of it off at his neighbor's daughter's house, and put the rest of it in front of my grandma's house. It snowed in Fremont last night....or at least in front of their house it did! I seriously felt like a little kid again when I saw my grandpa shoveling snow in their front yeard. All I have to say, is Bean is SUPER lucky to be a part of this family (yes, we have our crazy drama and all that, but overall, its pretty freaking awesome).
Anyway, that's about it for now. Im back at work today, and glad no one got ordered in to work for me on Christmas. Hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas!
