So, we finally got into the room for the ultrasound (it was tiny and about 90 degrees in there), but the tech was really nice. I had to inform her (like I do every time I have any ultrasound) of my previous surgery where they removed some parts (though, I could have been mean and let her keep looking for them, but she was nice). She then went on to start checking out Bean. She told us that all the babies she had seen that day had been VERY uncooperative...so why should my wonderful little Bean be any less cooperative. So she had me completely reclined so my head was actually lower than the rest of my body and to cough to get him moving...and there he was. So first we saw him completely and saw a little flicker in the middle of his chest (to which F asked 'is that the heart?') which was his heart, and then she started checking his brain (looked completely like a brain) so cool. She then took a few pictures, and printed them for us, and went on to do the measurements of the Neural Tube. She said it looked to be in the normal range, but the Dr would come in and double check. So, the Dr came in and double checked and confirmed that everything looks completely normal (however my bladder was PAINFULLY full at that point) and also gave us our results for our genetic blood work which came back completely in the normal range. WOOHOO! I have a feeling that will be the only thing normal about our baby (hello, look at F and I...not much hope for Bean to be 'normal').
So, without further adieu....I would like to introduce you to Jelly Bean (Bean) Smith, our little thumb sucker!
